So... I havent got a single idea of this writer, or what she writes... but the fridge thing, the gas hob thing, her approach, tells me that she writes light, chick lit, froth, and I wouldn't be interested in it.
It could be that she is a wonderful writer outside this genre... but on this performance alone, I wouldn't bother to find out.
She definitely doesn't write chick lit and froth - but I only know that because I know who she is already. She wrote and directed this wonderful film called My, Myself and Everyone We Know. or something like that. You're right, V, this doesn't help the uninitiated!
I saw this a while ago on someone else's blog, it's cute, but I find myself disappointed to read on and discover rave reviews from Dave Eggers and so on. Not quite an unknown debut, rather a "performance artist", "film maker" and "writer." I don't know why that should bother me, I suppose it seems more studiously kooky than I at first supposed it to be. Now I find it manipulative and studiedly quirky.

well put. 'studiedly quirky' is right. Its not unthinking, is it. It's a bit 'look at me, Im incredibly wacky and ever so clever!'
And IM glad youve said she is good, cos I would have written it off as a fading chicklit stunt!
