This has definitely got to be one of the highlights of my year - a year which began with my short story in science journal Nature ends with my science-inspired short story in science magazine New Scientist's Dec 24th print edition, available worldwide! It's not available online, so if you fancy reading it, I'm sure it's in your local newsagent, or whatever the equivalent is outside the UK. I'm unbelievably excited about this - they asked me for a story, which is something I'd dreamed of for years. Thank you, New Scientist! Happy holidays to all!
ADDENDUM: turns out it is published online too, on the New Scientist blog!

Congratulations. What a great way to end the year. Have a very merry Christmas.
Thank you, Dan! Same to you.
Fantastic news, Tania. Very well done. They've resisted me so far!
What a way to end the year! Congratulations! I'll look out for the story in shops.
That's great news, Tania! Will look out for it.
Simon, thanks, I hope their resistance crumbles soon! Let's hope for more fiction in the magazine...
Sarah, thank you!
Andrea, thank you, fellow science-inspired writer!
Bought and read yesterday. Well done :)
Thank you, Bob!!
Hi Tania, Happy New Year and love the new blog design. I love mystery in a story, and the expression of concepts via words seldom paired. It sounds like a mind trip and I'll bookmark it for after I've ploughed my way through my Christmas pile (this year the Hub bought me books on women in science -- lots of them).
Martha, thanks so much for noticing the blog design...! You're the only one, it seems. The "I'm So Tired" seemed pretty appropriate for me right now. Very excited to hear about your pile of books, I have a bit of a "thing" about women in science, ah Hypatia, ah Sophie Germain!
Hi, congratulations for your science story.I read your collection The White Road, a year ago, I think, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I often think of the title story even now. It's so powerful. I've just read the science story. Maybe I'm being dense, but I don't get it.
